Sylvie Chagnon
Tap Dance

Sylvie Chagnon has been a tap dance teacher and choreographer at several studios and within numerous school programs in Gatineau for over 25 years. She developed an interest in teaching dance at a very young age. Trained in the Al Gilbert method, she made her debut in the mid-1970s in Quebec City. She initially taught in various communities in the region and at the school "Les Ballets-Jazz de Québec." In 1977, she founded a Quebecois folk dance troupe named "Les Riverains" and led the group for 4 years. After completing her teaching degree, she joined the Montreal-based folk ensemble "Les Sortilèges," where she danced professionally for two years. In 1997, she met Mr. Brian Foley, founder of ADAPT (Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers), and quickly became interested in his syllabus and teaching methods. Since 2012, she has had the privilege of being part of his team as an examiner and spokesperson for the French syllabus. In recent years, she has participated in several festivals and workshops, allowing her to explore different styles of tap dance.
